What I Loved About the Outer Banks Parade of Homes

The Outer Banks Parade of Homes left me with a camera full of photos and so many beautiful details to think about. Touring these homes was a wonderful reminder of the craftsmanship and creativity that go into making a house feel special. From breathtaking gathering spaces to a bungalow with an unforgettable view, there was something to appreciate at every stop.

A breathtaking home made for gathering

Of course, the $3 million home was absolutely breathtaking. With 16 bedrooms, it had me imagining a large family reunion—everyone coming together, enjoying time at the beach, and still having room to spread out. It was the kind of home that makes you pause, look around, and picture the memories that could be made there.

Similar silhouettes, entirely different personalities

I expected some of the familiar cottage-style, three-story homes to feel fairly similar. I was pleasantly surprised! Each had its own special design and flair, and that made the tour so much fun. A familiar exterior style certainly does not mean you know what you will find inside.

Seeing the homes in person gave me a chance to appreciate those differences. The way a room opens to the outdoors, the choices in finishes, and the feeling of a living space all help give a home its personality. There was plenty of inspiration for anyone who enjoys architecture, decorating, or simply imagining a different way to live.

The one-story bungalow that won me over

My personal favorite was a one-story bungalow with incredible views of the sound. Those views were what stayed with me. I could imagine slowing down, taking a seat, and enjoying the water. Among all the impressive homes on the tour, that bungalow was the one I kept thinking about afterward.

Outdoor spaces worth lingering in

The outdoor pool areas in many of the homes were amazing, too. They made the outdoor spaces feel like an essential part of the home—places to relax, gather, and enjoy the coastal setting. The connection between indoor living and outdoor enjoyment was one of my favorite parts of the day.

A definite must-do next fall

If you enjoy beautiful homes, creative design, and seeing skilled craftsmanship up close, I highly recommend the Outer Banks Parade of Homes. It is a definite must-do for next fall. You might find inspiration for your own home, discover a style you had not considered, or come away with a favorite that surprises you.

I certainly did. Beautiful craftsmanship, creative design, and plenty of personality—this was a tour worth taking.
